Renovation of Needham Theater at Port Hueneme Naval Base

KAL was the LDF for the repair and rejuvenation of Needham Theater at the Port Hueneme Naval Base in Ventura County, CA. The 15,888 SF theater, originally constructed in 1969 and with a seating capacity of 850, is a single-story auditorium with a stage, dressing rooms, lobby, mezzanine, balcony, and projection room. Renovations were needed to bring the facilities up to current codes while maintaining the historic architectural integrity. Design features included a full renovation of the concessions stand with new counters and countertops, cabinets, and additional fixtures. The concession counter included shelving for displaying snacks, two computers for cashiering, cabinets and shelving for food storage, popcorn and fountain drink machines, an ICEE machine, and other concession equipment. The restrooms were fully renovated, made ADA compliant, and with upgrades to the finishes and fixtures.
