Upgrade Chiller Plant & DDC Controls at VAMC Long Beach

KAL developed design and construction period services for the upgrade and replacement of the existing chillers, cooling towers, primary & secondary chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, piping, and Metasys Building Management System at VAMC Long Beach, CA. Services required for this project included a site survey to evaluate the total chilled water requirements, calculation of the total building cooling load, an upgrade of the chiller plant, based on current and planned future cooling loads, an upgrade of the existing pneumatic controls at the chiller plant, upgrade of the existing electrical system to meet the new power requirements, and development of a phasing plan with no interruption to patient care.
