Architects performed architectural consulting services to assist
in various Nestle projects in the preparation and coordination of
the detailed design and construction documents. The scope of work
included: 1) the "redlining" of contract drawings and
the review and checking of all drawings for accuracy; 2) completeness,
code compliance, interdisciplinary consistency, coordinating, and
the integration of all input from civil, structural, mechanical
and other consultants; 3) the review and integration of specifications
prepared by others into all main drawings. |

Division, Eau Claire, Wisconsin |
| Laboratory |
A single story Laboratory was designed adjacent
to the already existing plant on an abandoned street. The requirements
were for a chemistry, microbiology, majonnier, and vitamin testing
laboratories with additional lab offices, tasting kitchen, record
filing area and necessary utility rooms. Locating and placing the
hundreds of pieces of already existing and new lab equipment into
the labs has been one of the important facets of this project. KAL
Architects worked extensively with the cabinet manufacturers on
the specific design of the cabinets to ensure that everything met
with our client's specifications. |
| Plant & Product
Line Expansions |
| This capital improvement
project for the Nutritional Products Division entailed that a single
story, 64,000-sq. ft. expansion of a shipping warehouse, was done.
Demolition of the existing warehouse and remodeling for new food
processing equipment had to be factored into schedule. The project
was constructed in three main phases to ensure, maintain, and guarantee
on-going production and shipment schedules. Rita Kalwani was Project
Manager and Architect for Nestle, USA during this project.

Expansion |
| A capital improvement
project for Nestle's Nutritional Products Division in Eau Claire,
Wisconsin. The project consisted of a single story expansion for
the company’s main shipping warehouse; a mezzanine; and the
remodeling of an already existing plant and the installation of
new food processing equipment. The project was divided into three
key phases, which allowed our client the ability to maintain all
existing production and product shipment schedules, while construction
improvements took place. |
| Master Planning
Of The Division's Main Facility |
A comprehensive master plan was commissioned
to project future capital improvement projects for this facility.
The expansion was done in different phases for maximum capacity
of growth. This allowed that work was done within the confines of
current ownership limits and also that it was done in compliance
with the feasibility of acquiring other adjacent sites. Numerous
factors were considered, such as: site circulation; building layout;
operation of the plant; construction phasing; site limitation; security;
local code requirements; cost analysis; and aesthetic elements as
well. Numerous schemes were developed for client review and open
for comment. Rita Kalwani prepared the presentation plans to the
Nestle USA company and management. |

A new Confections Facility for Nestle's Chocolate
Division was built next to their already existing plant in Fulton,
New York. This project included the expansion of the Processing
Area and the addition of a mezzanine with a walk-on ceiling to be
added above. The new area interfaced with the already existing plant
from both sides. A notable feature of the main designs was the exterior
walls that were composed of pre-cast concrete panels and insulated
metal panels. These panels included built-in connections that allowed
for their removal or placement in different locations or whenever
future plant expansions would occur. |
