All projects involved on site meetings, field
investigation and quality assurance reviews of design documents
related to constructability review and design reviews for the replacement
of baggage handling equipment. The Project Scopes include Review
of Schematic, Design Development and Final Design Documents for
eight airline terminals at LAX. Conducted Field investigation to
become familiar with the existing conditions. Submittal packages
for Pre-Construction review contained design narratives, phasing
plans, equipment lists, calculations and design drawings.
The projects contain architectural, structural, civil, mechanical,
plumbing, electrical, fire suppression, life safety, material handling
and phasing plans. We provided reviews for code compliance, handicapped
accessibility, security, safety, constructability, coordination,
completeness and compliance with the scope of work. During Construction,
KAL will assist our client, TURNER/DMJM, in Construction Inspection
and Title 2 Service |

Seismic Upgrade,
Renovation and Alteration of Hangar 2360 at the MCAS, Camp Pendleton,
CA |
KAL provided design services for the Seismic
Upgrade, Renovation and Alteration of Hangar 2360 at the MCAS, Camp
Pendleton, CA. Seismic upgrade required removal of the roof deck,
construction of an independent structural steel frame to support
the existing long span trusses and reinforcement of the trusses.
The building interior was completely removed, walls added and new
offices, classrooms, toilets, locker rooms and showers added. The
shop areas were reconfigured. All mechanical, plumbing and electrical
systems were replaced. A new wet pipe fire sprinkler system was
provided. The existing deluge system was reconfigured. A new fire
alarm system including TM-Spectrum UV/IV sensors for the hangar
bay was installed. Two new bridge cranes were installed. The hangar
doors were seismically upgraded with new motors and controls and
new sequences to operate properly. The building was “hardened”
for Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection considerations including
blast walls at exterior doors and blast resistant windows. |
