KAL has provided the A-E design services under this Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract when ordered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Business Center. The scope of work involves multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering (A-E) services for healthcare facility maintenance, repair, and improvement projects (new construction, renovation, alteration, improvement, repairs, and minor construction). Work has included preparation of studies, schematics, investigative services, design development, preliminary designs, working drawings, specifications, engineering designs, construction documents, cost estimates, construction period services, site visits, miscellaneous reports, and other related activities to authorized construction projects on an “as needed” or “required” basis for each task order assigned.

USP 797 Pharmacy Upgrade |
Pharmacies in Bldg 500 and 345 were renovated in accordance with USP-797 guidelines.

B 500 Primary & Ambulatory Care Clinic (PACC) renovation included waiting area, front desk administration, and additional examination rooms to accommodate the increased patient load.

Add annex to the Nuclear Medicine Bldg 345 for compliance with recent revisions to the USP 823. |

Field Investigation to identify the non-structural seismic deficiencies in Bldg 138 (Animal Research), prioritize improvements and provide design to eliminate the deficiencies. |
Space Conversion for Mental Health Clinic |
Convert & renovate vacant rooms into a mental health outpatient clinic and offices in Bldg 128, 2nd Floor Wards A and K.

Structural Upgrades for Ceiling Lifts |
Design a structural upgrade to install a ceiling lift for patients in Room U-129, Bldg 150 SCI. Provide testing/certification of this lift installation.

Design Emergency Water Main |
Design an emergency (redundant) water main using combination of trenching and horizontal directional drilling to avoid damaging mature trees in the vicinity of the route.

New Kitchen Hoods & Fire Protection |
| Demolition of existing Class B dry automatic kitchen fire extinguishing system, and replace with new Class K wet system. Conduct field inspection and design new kitchen hoods and utilities.

Patient Room Conversion |
Convert 4-bed patient rooms to 2-bed and/or private (1-bed) patient rooms in Bldg 126, 4th, 8th & 10th floors. Develop alternate layouts for selection and prepare RFP for Design-Build project.

Restroom Upgrades for Mental Health Clinic |
In Bldg 206, Mental Health Ward M and L, upgrade bathrooms for conformance with the current VA Mental Health design Guide.

Bldg. 149 Renovation Study |
Conduct a renovation study to improve productivity and working environment in Bldg 149

Cart Washer Utility Upgrade |
In Bldg 126, 7th floor SPD, reinstall cart washer, replace 2 sterilizers, and on the 5the floor install 2 scope washers. Design utilities for installation of these government furnished equipment. |
Renovate Executive Offices |
Renovate Executive offices and VISN emergency command center, utilizing Planetree concepts.

Seismic Survey of Multiple Structures |
Emergency Structural Survey of critical Buildings 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 11, 50, 126, 126OP, 128, 13, 138, 149, 150, 160, 161 and 162 to determine the existence of structural damage as a possible result of the earthquake activities on July, 29, 2008.

Determine Deficiencies in ER HVAC System |
Study to determine the existing HVAC system deficiencies serving the ER, and design of improvements to eliminate those deficiencies

Relocate Primary Care Clinic |
Primary Care Module-5 was relocated from third floor to the first floor. It was expanded and designed adjacent to the existing other four Primary Care Modules. Public Restrooms, next to the main lobby and in the vicinity of Module-5, were also renovated. Planetree model was adopted in the design. |
Reconfigure Nursing Home Common Areas |
Reconfigure approximately 2,000 SF of existing visiting area of the Nursing Home Care Unit, including wall mounted plasma television, fireplace, family/guest pantry, fire sprinkler riser closet, pyxis medication station relocation.

Field Investigation to identify the seismic deficiencies to the existing utilities located in the basement, four interstitial levels and 32 service bays, prioritize the improvements and provide design to eliminate the deficiencies.
